MODESELEKTOR

I saw Modeselektor June 1st 2008, just before Studio A closed. The show was KILLER. These German jerks sprayed the crowd with champagne and poured shots of vodka for everyone. They were more fun than most of these big time artists and (as you can see in the pic) they did TONS of live remixing, great stuff. Also... I swear to god James Mercer (singer of The Shins) was vibin' in the VIP at this show.

I'll cut to the chase. Fuck a genre, this is some crazy stuff. The band themselves said "Happy metal, hard rap, country-ambient, Russian crunk. We don’t like it if people tag us as being a certain style or school or scene or whatever. We don’t really care about all that." YEAH!

Recently, they teamed up with Apparat as Moderat. The sound is much more chill. I don't love it as much but you MUST check out the videos that accompany some of their tracks. Beautiful.
